Guest Comments
“Dear Baskin Creek Staff,
First, my wife and I extend a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you.
Thank you for requesting comments on our recent stay at Bear Hugs. We enjoyed the location of the cabin, and, for the most part, the accommodations met all of our needs. To best summarize our thoughts and suggestions concerning your service, our accommodations, or how you might better serve us, I compiled the following list of
+ (positive) and - (negative/needs attention) items.
+ Great location.
+ Very cordial, friendly and professional staff. I appreciated the phone call from the reservations staff who provided the access code to the front door while we were in route. Very thoughtful.
+ Fair price for the accommodations.
+ Great response to an electrical hazard in one of the bathrooms. A maintenance representative responded in less than 30 minutes to replace the switch for the overhead light and exhaust fan which was sparking and presented a potential fire hazard.
+ The cabin and all of its contents were clean and in good working order. Nice area decor.
+ The hot tub is awesome!
+ Very comfortable bed. That is a rarity.
+ Close, convenient parking.
+ The gas fireplace is wonderful. Too bad the couch is not a fold-out bed. It would be great to sleep near the warmth of the fire. That would just add to the charm of a honeymoon cabin.
- The lack of snow removal in the parking area and the pathway to the cabin was a big problem for my wife who is handicapped. Had a snow shovel been available in the cabin, I could have eliminated this as an issue.
- While there was an iron, there was no ironing board available.
- The door in the bedroom that leads to the outside is in dire need of attention. The gaps between the door and the frame are so large, you cannot keep the bedroom warm, and I am certain that your utility bills could be cut dramatically by installing the necessary molding around the door.
- Consider buying an additional frying pan/skillet. There is one 8" frying pan, and that is hardly adequate for cooking meals.
- The tile around the hot tub is a major health hazard. After using the hot tub, my wife and I had to literally hold on for dear life in order to walk out of the hot tub room.
- There appears to be no heat going into the bedroom bath. If you want to be invigorated, just walk in there without any clothes.
- Recommend that blankets be made available for those cold winter nights. If not, you might want to include something in the information portion for Bear Hugs. The same thing applies to an ironing board and cookware.
My wife and I thank you for accommodating us and providing excellent service, and we hope you find our comments helpful. We will certainly consider Baskin Creek Vacation Rentals on our next trip to Gatlinburg.“

“Hi, we had a great stay at Gatlinburg, TN the cabin "Bear Hugs" was very nice and had most everything we needed. We would love to someday stay there again. I do have a few suggestions for future. The cabin needs a good cleaning. It was very dusty and had lots of spider webs around. You also need to leave better instructions as to how to turn the Hot tub on and off. We could not get it to stop coming on so we left it uncovered. You also need to leave an extra blanket the bed only had one on it and no other in cabin to be found.
Thanks for your everything.“
